Item number (SKU):

Mohair yarn made from 65% kid mohair and 35% of the softest merino wool. The yarn is very soft, lustrous, and lightweight, with a yardage of approximately 175 m per 50 grams. 50 grams per skein. The product image of the yarn shows whether the color in question is available as a ball or a skein.

For a single-color pullover in size 40, the yarn consumption is approx. 400–500 g of Double kid mohair, but there are patterns that use both less and more yarn.
Please note that many of the colors are also available in our other yarn qualities, so there are plenty of opportunities to combine and achieve exciting knitting results.

Only the fine fibers from kid mohair goats are used. The mohair yarn is lightweight and gives the finished sweaters a heat-regulating and comfortable effect. Due to the smooth surface of the fiber, mohair is dirt and water repellent.

Kidmohair is a natural product of the highest quality from South African mohair goats. South Africa currently accounts for over 50% of the world's total mohair production, and this status gives rise to great responsibility for production methods and quality.

The mohair goats are sheared twice a year either by hand or with machines. The animals are not harmed in any way in this process.
The mohair is sorted by length, fiber diameter and quality.
The mohair is then washed, carded and combed to the top, from which it is spun. Our yarn is spun from mohair that has RMS (Responsible Mohair Standard) status.

Dyeing of the yarn is done before or after spinning, depending on the desired look of the finished yarn.

The yarn is dyed according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100.

History
Double kid mohair Double kid mohair) is the yarn we have loved the most and have had since 1992. Around 2013, a minor change was made to the composition of the yarn, making it softer and thus better meeting the general wishes of yarn customers for soft knitting yarn.

sweaters
Sweaters knitted from our Double kid mohair suitable for both indoor and outdoor wear. The knit sweaters do not take up much space under outerwear. The sweaters are light and thin when knitted with a single thread and not mixed with other yarns, but just as warm as many thick and compact sweaters made from other materials. This means that the sweaters can be worn all year round, making the yarn a sensible choice in terms of usability. If you want a thicker and cozier sweater, Double kid mohair can Double kid mohair with Brushed Lace or Single kid mohair. In this case, we recommend models that are not oversized or loose, as they can easily become heavy. Mohair is light and, for the best experience, should remain light.

Garnet
This yarn is ideal for knitting cables and patterns. For pure stockinette, some knitters may feel a bit challenged as the smooth fiber that is mohair sometimes does not lay down evenly. However, this is not a problem for most, as the beauty is in the shine. The benefits of knitting with a yarn that feels good to work with and is comfortable to wear are the most important thing for most people.

The colors
The colors in the yarn are bright and stand out clearly when knitting in different colors. Therefore very suitable for Fair Island knitting.

Uses
Double kid mohair suitable for hand knitting, crocheting, and machine knitting.
