Our yarn selection

We love the mohair product and as the yarn is the reason why the products can be made, we have chosen to make a gallery so that you can see all our yarns and color.

1-ply kidmohair

Ideal for lightweight shawls or as a companion thread for knitting projects of all kinds. The yarn is a soft and smooth yarn. You can add softness to a harder yarn by knitting it together with this 1-ply kidmohair. The yarn is also suitable for crochet.
1-ply kidmohair in the store

1-ply kidmohair
50 grams per bundle.

Mohair yarn made from 65% kid mohair and 35% of the softest merino wool. The yarn is very light and has a running length of approx. 350 m / 50 grams and is knitted with a needle size of 2 - 3.5 mm.

Our 1-ply kidmohair is very popular for smaller items. Due to the long running length, you can knit or crochet a fantastic shawl or similar with just one bundle. Even the lightest and thinnest shawl made with this yarn provides good warmth without taking up too much space.

If you choose to knit blouses on a circular needle with only one strand, we recommend knitting a pattern in the work. The yarn is not twisted and can twist a little if you're not careful. A thin untwisted yarn can be difficult to knit on a regular basis, but this yarn still gives a beautiful look to the finished piece.

Since the yarn is offered in many colors, you can create your own color combinations by knitting two strands of different colors together.

1-ply kidmohair is very suitable as a companion yarn with other yarns. Many yarns will be upgraded if you include a 1-ply kidmohair in your knitting project.

The softness of mohair comes through clearly when mixed with a slightly hard yarn. As mohair is a durable fiber, it can be mixed with a yarn that doesn't offer much strength.

If you want the absolute best, you should knit 1-ply kidmohair and our Brushed Lace together. These two top quality yarns give a truly unique result. Your finished piece of needlework will provide the wearer with super comfort and beauty.

1-ply kidmohair with our 2-ply kidmohair or Bouclé yarn is also recommended. Here you will achieve knitting results that are slightly thicker and knit on larger needles.

Several of the colors are repeated in our other types of yarn, so by mixing our different qualities in the same color, you can change needle size and hit different gauges in the many patterns available from skilled designers. You can also mix colors in the four different mohair yarns we have for a completely unique dyeing experience. There's real scope for the creative knitter.

Kidmohair is a natural product of the highest quality from South African mohair goats. South Africa today accounts for over 50% of the world's total mohair production, and this status gives rise to a high level of responsibility for production methods and quality.

The mohair goats are sheared twice a year either by hand or by machine. The animals are not harmed in any way in this process.
The mohair is sorted by length, fiber diameter and quality.
The mohair is then washed, carded and combed to the top, from which it is spun. Our yarn is spun from mohair that has RMS (Responsible Mohair Standard*) status.
Dyeing of the yarn is done before or after spinning, depending on the desired look of the finished yarn.

The yarn is dyed according to Oeko Tex Standard 100

2-ply kidmohair

Super soft with an incredibly beautiful shine. Suitable for all knitwear. The cables and patterns are clearly visible in the finished knit. With this yarn you can knit a sweater that will keep you warm without adding weight or bulk, making it suitable for both winter knitting and as a warm sweater for cool summer days.
2-ply kidmohair in the store

Mohair yarn made from 65% kid mohair and 35% of the softest merino wool. The yarn is very soft, shiny and lightweight and has a running length of approx. 175 m / 50 grams.

For a solid color pullover in size 40, the yarn consumption is approx. 400 - 500 g of 2-ply kidmohair, but there are patterns with both less and more yarn.
Note that many of the colors are repeated in our other yarn qualities, so there is plenty of opportunity to combine and get exciting knitting results.

Only the fine fibers from the kid of mohair goats are used. The mohair yarn is lightweight and gives the finished sweaters a heat-regulating and comfortable effect. Due to its smooth fibers, mohair is dirt and water repellent. Sweaters knitted by our 2-ply kidmohair are suitable for both indoors and outdoors. Under outerwear, knitted sweaters don't take up much space. If you want a thicker and fluffier sweater, we recommend blending the yarn with our Brushed lace or the 1-ply kidmohair.

Bouclé yarn

The ideal yarn for large and fleecy sweaters and shawls, hats, mittens etc. or as an effect yarn when knitting with other yarns. Plain and hand-dyed (multicolored). The fine curls in the yarn give it a unique look. Since this bouclé yarn is spun from 78% mohair, it has a beautiful sheen compared to many other bouclé yarns.
Bouclé yarn in the store

Super soft mohair yarn with loops.
Can be knitted on large needles.
Loop length approx. 170 m per 100 g yarn.

The ideal yarn for large and fleecy sweaters, cardigans and shawls, hats, mittens etc. or as an effect yarn for knitting with other yarns. Plain and hand dyed (multicolored).

This soft yarn is suitable for knitting without a pattern, as the texture of the yarn itself creates a great effect. This yarn is often chosen by beginner knitters as irregular knitting is less noticeable in the finished work. Hats, scarves, neck warmers and mittens can be knitted from just one ball. Get ideas for your next knitting project here.

Bouclé mohair yarn has all the amazing properties of mohair. It keeps you warm when it's cold and is still comfortable when it's cold. It is water and dirt repellent due to the smooth surface of the fibers.

Bouclé Mohair is a natural product from South African Mohair goats. Bouclé yarn is characterized by the many small loops in the yarn. It is made from a slightly coarser fiber quality than Kidmohair, but is very nice and soft and of high quality.

If you want to preserve the loops in the finished knitted piece, it is recommended for garments that are not exposed to constant and continuous wear and tear, as the loops will be torn. However, this doesn't change the fact that the sweater is super comfortable, warm and lightweight. If the loops are torn after a while, the sweater will appear with a new and extra fluffy look like a brushed up sweater.

Bouclé Mohair yarn is available in a wide range of colors, both in solid colors and in the variegated and popular hand-dyed mixes. The yarn consists of 78% mohair, 13% merino and 9% nylon.

Facts about hand-dyed yarn.

All our yarns that are multicolored are hand-dyed. This means that there will always be a risk of variation from bundle to bundle, even if it is the same lot number. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that a finished knitting project will be free of color variations.

Our hand-dyed bouclé yarns are dyed using two different methods.

  1. The colors are applied to the yarn with sponges
Only a few bundles are dyed at a time, which is the reason for possible deviations. We have lot numbers on these, however, this is not a guarantee that the colors are 100% evenly distributed.
  2. Dyeing by dipping the yarn in containers of dye
These yarns have the designation LE after the color number. Only 5 kg are dyed at a time. Yarns dipped in the same batch do not have large variations. We do not have lot numbers for these yarns. When placing an order, we only deliver from the same dip. When reordering, it cannot be guaranteed that it is from the same dip.

Brushed Lace

Brushed lace is the absolute finest, softest and thinnest mohair yarn for knitwear. The yarn is of the type Silkmohair. This yarn gives a real "wow effect".
Brushed Lace in the store

Brushed lace
25 grams per bundle. Running length 210m per bundle.

Brushed lace is a quality yarn made from super fine fibers from angora goat kids mixed with mulberry silk, which is the finest silk. The yarn consists of 72% fine kid mohair and 28% mulberry silk. The hair from the kid is carefully selected for this product. The fibers must be very fine and long to provide the best quality. There is no are not silicone or other softening agents are not added to achieve the softness. A brushed mohair yarn will always shed a little hair, but we often hear that ours doesn't "shed" much. Brushed lace is often called silk mohair by knitters. This term refers to the fact that the mohair is mixed with silk. The word silk in this context is not an expression of the fineness of the mohair. We can only be proud of the fact that for our mohair yarn, this is actually true. Our Brushed Lace mohair yarn is silky soft and lustrous by nature. If you encounter the word Silkmohair, you should be critical, as it only indicates that the mohair yarn is blended with silk. It doesn't tell you anything about the quality of the mohair and silk.

Brushed lace is used in many different ways. Ultra light sweaters are knitted with one strand, PetitKnit's September Sweater is knitted with three strands and our model 88 Fluffy Bird sweater is knitted with four strands. Yes, we've even seen a designer create a bolero with eight strands of brushed lace. Anything is possible, so it's hard to suggest a suitable needle size. Brushed lace is also suitable as a companion yarn with our 1- and 2-ply kidmohair or other yarns.

The fine lustrous yarn is suitable for garments such as scarves, shawls and light sweaters and dresses.
