Review of Mohair by Canard
Written by Victoria Dalsgaard

Never have I enjoyed ...

Never have I enjoyed sitting down with my yarn and starting a new project more. And I have Mohair by Canard to thank for that.

Newly started hobby crocheter

As a new hobby crocheter, I'm still finding my way around the colourful world of yarn. Type and thickness, colour and quality, something I never had to deal with before, has suddenly become the greatest pleasure for me. Because of course you have to find what suits you - but what about all the ethical issues that also have to be accounted for?

My crochet experience

I can safely neglect all above mentioned and focus only on the crochet experience with Mohair by Canard. Because not only do they care about fair trade and sustainability, but it's probably one of the most beautiful yarns I've ever touched. As a first time crocheter with mohair, it was a lovely experience and for anyone else thinking of starting up a crochet project, I can only recommend starting with this fine yarn selection in all sorts of colours. Like me, you could start your own creative project, and otherwise make use of the wonderful amount of patterns inside the website, which don't take many minutes to get a handle of. In fact, when you buy yarn, one or more patterns matching the yarn are offered.

Pros and Cons

For me, one piece of 1-ply kidmohair in the color lime green was enough to create these lovely and versatile fingerless mittens that feel amazing on my hands. The unraveling work was perhaps a small minus in my book, but once you got into the rhythm it slipped through your fingers without any problems. Some might also think that the price is a minus in itself, but you get so much for your money that it's worth it in my opinion. I still have a bit left over from my own little project and this could easily be used as a nice detail in other things or maybe to make a matching headband!

Perfect for autumn

With a size 3 crochet hook, a bunch of mohair yarn and a sewing needle, it took me just a few days to make the mittens, which are perfect to use in the coming autumn months and to add a little colour to your outfit. I'll most likely be using them every day once the weather changes, and with the fingerless feature, there's suddenly nothing stopping me from making more creations in mohair - indoors and out.

Mohair by Canard is definitely a recommendation from me and something I won't hesitate to use again in other projects.
