Our responsibility - Mohair with care
Responsible Mohair Standard (RMS)
We are in the process of transitioning our range to yarns from mohair with RMS status. RMS stands for Responsible Mohair Standard - an international standard that ensures:
-
Good animal welfare for Angora goats
-
Fair and safe working conditions
-
Sustainable management of land and resources
The mohair yarn from Mohair by Canard is produced by Samil Natural Fibres (Pty) Ltd. in South Africa. Samil is one of the world's most recognized producers of mohair and works in accordance with the RMS standard.

Textile Exchange - independent control and ethics
RMS is developed by Textile Exchange, an international non-profit organization working to promote sustainable production of textile fibres globally. Textile Exchange collaborates with Mohair South Africa, which has a long-standing commitment to animal ethics and responsible production.
OEKO-TEX Standard 100 - safe dyeing
Our mohair yarn is dyed at spinning mills that use OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. This means that the yarn is tested and free from harmful substances - both for humans and the environment.

Our CSR - responsibility in practice
CSR stands for Corporate Social Responsibility - and for us it's about doing business with care. We only choose partners who share our values:
-
Respect for animals - we've had mohair goats ourselves and know how important good animal welfare is.
-
Long life = less consumption - our socks and products are made with high quality and last much longer than regular cotton or wool socks.
-
Ethical suppliers - we only work with manufacturers that follow internationally recognized standards.
